the higher
The Higher have announced that they’re calling it quits. You can read a statement from the band below.

What measures success in music? Today it’s extremely hard to tell, and I don’t see it getting any easier in the future. To me, (Robert Ragan aka Reggie) The Higher was successful because I had an amazing time doing it. Everyday on the road brought a new adventure, a new challenge, and new way of viewing the world. We were able to tour the US and Canada more than a dozen times, Japan 5 times, UK 1 time. We had 2 top 10 singles in Japan, a number 1 video in Japan, and were able to play their version of Coachella which they call Fuji Rock. In the US, we didn’t see the same results we did in Japan, but we didn’t go unnoticed by any means. The 6 years i spent playing with The Higher will probably be best times ill ever have in my life. Great stories to tell the grandkids……well some will have to wait till they’re older, but you get it. We played like shit some nights, and played great some nights. We were a very human band, and anyone who knows us, knows that we did things our way for better or for worse. From members leaving, too label issues, too management issues, we went through it all, and unfortunately we were unable to sustain those blows like other bands can. So, with that being said The Higher is officially done playing music. We have a farewell show in the works which will be in Vegas. The details are vague at best right now, but as soon as we know you will know. Everyone that supported us throughout the years, we sincerely thank you. Bands such as The Matches, Youinseries, Motion City Soundtrack, Sherwood, The Forecast, Quietdrive, Panic at the disco, Everybody Else, Take Cover, Lydia, Park, Silverstein, Ronnie Radke ( He’s a huge fan), Meg and Dia, In Aviate aka Autumn Rhodes, Emery, Between the Trees, Less than Jake, Escape the Fate, The Audition, The Reign of Kindo, Eye Alaska, Red Hot Radio, and Red Wine Rewind we thank you all for touring and helping us along the way. Thanks again everyone!

take cover
Take Cover have announced that they’re calling it quits. ou can check out a full statement from the band below.

I have no idea how to approach this and that’s never usually an issue for me. However, I think the best strategy always ends up being blunt honesty, so I’m going to go with that.

Take Cover has been a band for 4 years. We’ve put out 3 EPs, 3 singles and a full length record called “The Dreamer and The Realist”. We’ve toured every coast in America playing shows together as bandmates, business partners and brothers. We’ve stuck together through the incredible highs and lows of being in a band; sharing creative breakthroughs and playing huge shows, getting into drunken arguments and losing tours to “buy-on” bands (that’s right I said it). Without gushing any further, we all frickin’ love each other. That’s why it was so difficult to make the decision we have made. Its honestly one of the hardest things that any of us have ever had to do, but we feel that now is the right time and when you know, you know.

As of last week we have decided that Take Cover will be parting ways. The time has come where some of us feel ready to move on to the next chapter of our lives and we had to be honest with ourselves and each other and accept it. Although we are disbanding as Take Cover, I want to assure everyone that this is not the end of music for any of us by any means. It’s in our blood and its not going anywhere.

We want to say thank you to every single person who has ever bought a cd, showed a friend our music or came to a show. We are so proud of everything that we’ve accomplished together and will remember this part of our lives forever. We have some of the most dedicated and passionate fans in the world. I’m still completely blown away and humbled every time I see someone with a tattoo of Take Cover lyrics. Seriously, you guys don’t know what that means to us.

We also want to thank the AMAZING bands and people we’ve had the honor of knowing from all over the country.
Every tour and opportunity we’ve ever received has been a result of the kindness of these awesome people: You, Me and Everyone We Know, Jordan Schmidt, Quietdrive, Chad Snell, Sing it Loud, Claudio Rivera, Motion City Soundtrack, Jamestown Story, Man Overboard, The Higher, Queens Club, Patent Pending, The Movement, No Wings to Speak Of, Four Letter Lie, Mathletes, Every Avenue, Hit the Lights, Famous Like You, Skies Alive, All The Right Moves, The Venetia Fair, The Academy Is..
We are sad to bring this news but very excited about the future. Please come celebrate our band with us at our last two shows. Again, we want to thank you for the last 4 years, we won’t ever forget them.

These Kids Wear Crowns, A six-piece pop-punk band from Chilliwack, BC, released their first full length album on March 1, 2011. The album brings a rush of different flavors and varieties in every track. The album opener, Skeletons, is one of my favorite tracks. It’s one of songs where you need to sing and dance a long to, no matter where you are. These Kids Wear Crowns brings their fun energy and passion to every song on the album.

My favorite track on the album is Let’s Ride. The lyrics have a feeling that most people could sympathize with, the feeling of wanting to get away, and the music keeps with the rest of the album, fast paced and easy to dance to.

Overall, I really love this album. It’s the perfect album to turn on and dance your heart out to. The album is just alive with the bands energy and emotion, bringing one strong, well rounded album.

The lead singer of Fall Out Boy has released his first solo full length album on October 18, 2011. Patrick plays every instrument featured on the album, as well as sung and produced the record. Patrick’s musical style is strong and original with musical influences like Michael Jackson, Prince and David Bowie, adding in funky beats and singable lyrics.

I really enjoy Soul Punk becuase it’s totally different then the things you’d hear nowadays. Patrick brings his own unique flavour and style, with hard hitting lyrics and matching music.

The lyrics on the album were all cleverly written, mostly ‘story-orientated or metaphorical.’ Patrick manages to convey a whole wealth of emotions throughout the album, touching on human nature and anger.

One of my favorite tracks is Run Dry (X Hearts, X Fingers). Not only is it a song that I need to yell every word out loud too, it’s also one of a cautionary tale about too much drinking and the side effects.

Overall, Patrick manages to stun listeners with his clever style. Soul Punk is accurately named, as it has both a soul and a punk feel to it. It’s the perfect fuse between the two genres. I’m totally stoked to see what he puts out in the future because I really enjoy this album.
